This set is based off of the work of Jacob Riis, who was know for taking black and white flash photographs of dark environments.

This is another set of photos based on the work of Jacob Riis, who was known for taking flash photos of very dark environments.

In this set of photos, I am trying to emulate the style of Jacob Riis, who typically used flash photography to take pictures of dark environments.

Portrait Photographs

In this set of photographs, we created portraits in the style of the famous photographer, Richard Avedon, in which subjects would face a white background and the photos would be shot in black and white.

 

Depth Staging Photographs

The idea behind the depth staging assignment is to create depth by having an object really close to the camera and another object far away so the viewer perceives the deep space between them.

The goal of this set of photographs was another set of narrative images where I would arrange figures in front of backgrounds in an attempt to create a story.

In this series of Photographs, we used still images from books and toy action figures to create narrative scenes.

Rule of Thirds photographs

In this set of pictures, the goal was to capture an image in a way that the subject only takes up a third of the photo, with the rest of the image occupied by negative space.
